Frequently asked questions

What makes Christian marriage counseling different?

Christian marriage counseling integrates evidence-based couples therapy with a thoughtful Christian framework. In addition to addressing communication, conflict patterns, and emotional safety, we can incorporate Scripture, prayer, and conversations around forgiveness, grace, and repentance when desired. Faith integration is intentional and clinically grounded — never forced.

Do you specialize in marriage counseling?

Yes. I specialize in structured Christian marriage counseling for couples across Indiana. As a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist (LMFT) with a Doctorate in Counseling, my training focuses specifically on relationship systems — identifying destructive interaction cycles and helping couples move toward restoration.

What issues do you help couples address?

Common concerns include:

  • Recurring conflict

  • Emotional disconnection

  • Infidelity or trust rupture

  • Communication breakdown

  • Spiritual misalignment

  • High reactivity or defensiveness

  • Uncertainty about the future of the marriage

Our work focuses on addressing the deeper relational pattern driving these struggles.

Can marriage counseling help after infidelity?

Yes. Infidelity recovery requires structure, emotional safety, and accountability. The process typically involves stabilizing reactivity, clarifying transparency expectations, addressing underlying relational vulnerabilities, and rebuilding trust gradually. Restoration is possible when both partners are willing to engage honestly in the process.

What if my spouse is hesitant about counseling?

Many couples begin at different levels of motivation. You do not need full agreement to take the first step. A free 15-minute consultation can clarify next steps and reduce defensiveness. Structured, neutral guidance often makes counseling feel less threatening for reluctant spouses.

What happens in the first session?

The first session focuses on assessing your relational pattern, level of distress, and goals. We identify the interaction cycle driving conflict and determine whether structured couples counseling is appropriate. Sessions are intentional, focused, and goal oriented.

How long does marriage counseling last?

The length of counseling depends on the complexity of the issues and your goals. Most couples begin weekly to build momentum. The process is structured and designed to create measurable progress rather than open-ended conversation.

Do you accept insurance?

This is a private-pay practice.

Couples' sessions (75 minutes): $250
Individual sessions (50–60 minutes): $150

Private pay allows us to focus on your relationship without diagnostic labeling, insurance restrictions, or session limits.

Is telehealth effective for marriage counseling?

Yes. Research supports the effectiveness of telehealth for couples therapy. Online counseling allows couples across Indiana to receive structured care from the privacy of their own home while maintaining clinical depth and accountability.

Do you only work with couples?

Marriage counseling is my primary focus. I also provide individual counseling for adults navigating stress, trauma, or the personal impact of relational strain.

How do we get started?

Call, email, or submit a contact form to set up an appointment or schedule a free 15-minute consultation. There is also a direct link to my calendar to schedule the free 15-minute consultation. During that call, we briefly discuss your situation and determine next steps. If it feels like a good fit, we schedule your first session.
